September 2019 — After a lengthy evaluation, the American Morgan Horse Association announced at its recent third quarter board meeting in Las Vegas that they have unianimously approved moving forward with the Lease Review Committee’s recomendation to relocate the AMHA home office to the grounds of the Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.

The transition will take place during the holiday period between Christmas and New Year’s, with the new office opening on January 2, 2020. The current office in Shelburne, Vermont will remain open through January 31, 2020.

This is a move that was attempted over a decade ago when a contingent of supporters built and promoted such a move with a building that was ultimately abandoned.

In the spirit of the AMHA’s mission of preserving, promoting and perpetuating the Morgan Horse for generations to come, the move to this very publicly accessible and central location has the potential to drive visitors and awareness to the breed with the millions of attendees that frequent the KY Horse Park throughout the year from all corners of the world. As stated in a recent press release, “AMHA also acknowledges and will continue working hard to ensure that the history and legacy of the Morgan’s New England heritage is not lost, but rather celebrated by all.”
